Tales From Our Trip - August 25 -27, 2000

Greetings to all of our diving friends…

Well, the highly publized weekend was a success. The weather cooperated like I knew it would, so spirits and anticipation were high…
Most arrived Friday night for cocktails and salutations, recapping stories from the last trip and covering plans for this weekend. We also were pleased to be able to introduce a few new faces to the fold.

We met Saturday morning to issue gear, go over the day’s events and then trek to the boats. Seas were great, so we had comfortable boat rides both days.

Visibility was what we expected after confusing seas from the storms, but fish life was abundant and I do not believe that anyone had a bad time.
Saturday afternoon was open as always, so some of the older folks took naps, while others played on the beach or by the pool...

Franz started the pre-cooking preparations.

Ever the showman, Franz insists on a classy table even at a cookout!

About 6:00pm, Franz attacked the grill with his newfound frenzy, creating some awesome dishes for all to enjoy. For once, I do not believe there was too much food, at least not a lot wasted.

Some of us participated in the costuming of the event.  Doug, Tracey, Jeff, Marty, Steve, Rick and Trish, from Diving Solutions, all stopped by for a bite, a beer and to enjoy the festivities. We were also glad to have Wayne Mitchell and Reggie Ross as guests of the J2 bunch. They were able to add additional flavor with stories of diving and travels abroad.
There perhaps may be some ugly video out there as well, as we took to dancing, doing the limbo, inhaling jello shots, and just having fun after we were all fed
Sunday, we slept in a little and then reassembled at the boat for the final afternoon of diving. Yet again, another good day! Seas and sunshine cooperated as planned.

I think all in all, the trip was a success and there have been plenty of requests for dates for the next one. That makes it all worthwhile.

Thanks to all that participated and made everything come about: Tropical Isle, Diving Solutions, Force E and the staff and support of the J2 gang.

Until the next time, then, I hope you have calm seas and great diving…
